Kickstarter 2022

Concert. series

We just ended our summer concert series, we might do some more in "October for the Autumn concerts series.

Make sure to donate to the group if you enjoyed our performances in the parks and gardens. We enjoy the fact that we can give concerts again and in beautiful settings, though we depend on the weather.

Bruce's Garden last night was beautiful, and the volunteers cleaned the garden after the violent storm Ida, os a shout out to them. As they say, it takes a village, and our concerts are truly a collaboration of many people to make them possible.

The Taiko concert in the park also was fun and we had a great audience with a lot of children. We let the children get closer to the taiko drums and let them try it out. You could see that children are fascinated by these huge drums that are taller than them. Through the years we have seen children grow into adults, and we are proud to say that we were able to make their summer a little more fun with our concerts. We hope that a passion for music has been sparked in some of them. Music is such an important part of one's life. Music defines steps. And important events in your life. A lot of people remember their first love through songs. Why is it, then that politicians always put the arts at the bottom of things to support? They think it will be there anyway, with or without support.

People like you are key to the survival of the Arts.

Summer Rising in New York City schools

in 2021, the city has encouraged artists to teach in schools. East Winds, Inc. did participate as well in schools in Flushing and Brooklyn. Budgets did not allow us to bring Taiko drums to the schools, but we replaced them with drums sticks and buckets. We used the Taiko movements and rhythms to share them with students.

Summer school students can be at times challenging but we managed to present pop-up performances and every student got to perform the art form that they had learned during the summer.

As the pandemic just continues with new variants. I think students were fortunate to be able to be in with their friends again. We don't know what the autumn and new school year will bring. Looking at states that are already in the school year and back to remote and online programming. It is going to be a tough year for the students and children. It seems much harder for most students to focus on their studies while at home. Some don't even have the capability to study remotely.

Younger generations have to suffer from some of the bickering and politics of adults that have narrow-minded and limited views of things that will have a great impact on their future.

Looking for Taiko players

We are always looking for eager Taiko players to join Taikoza and bring Taiko to different countries and locations. We are looking for dancers and Taiko players or percussionists.

New CD released

I am very excited with the new cd.

Kickstarter supporters made it possible for us to put it out with guaranteed support and covering most of the costs for it. It is a great tool and I have supported a few projects myself. As they say it takes a village.

I am hoping to put out more music out. I did some recording s in Japan that I thought I would make a new album out of  or do some more recording and do another  shakuhachi solos Cd then another piano and shakuhachi.

I also have been wanting to record all my new taiko compositions and make a new albums for quite some time now and I hope it will not be too far in the future.
