Mestre Marco Lienhard morou 18 anos no Japão estudando o shakuhachi com o internacionalmente renomado mestre japonês Yokoyama Katsuya. Também fez parte do grupo de taiko Ondekoza, primeiro grupo de tambores japonês a realizar turnês internacionais, que depois originou o grupo Kodõ.
Marco já fez mais de 3.000 concertos incluindo Europa. Asia, Oceania, EUA e América do Sul. Apresentou-se nas casas de concerto mais prestigiadas no mundo: Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Boston Symphony Hall, Osaka Castle Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Center e Suntory Hall em Tokyo. E também fez inúmeras apresentações na TV: Regis and Kathie Lee Show, the PBS special A World of Performances (the 20th Anniversary Gala of Wolf Trap), a documentary for Canadian National TV, MTV and NBC's 1998 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade e escreveu a trilha do sonora do game Nintendo Wii Red Steel 2.
